From city girl to country-deep seeded roots. Begins my Posh to Oh My Gosh journey. Where I create unusual, cleaver, funky, and new experiences, whereas this has become my passion. My husband is the nuts and bolts and I am the glamor of it all.
Several years ago, we purchased a 1969 travel trailer. After re-building the inside with new walls, counter top, beds and bathroom, my Brother-in-law Clay moved into it for a while, but has since moved on and lost his battle with cancer. Our daughter, Savannah remembers his time in the little trailer on our farm fondly, and believes he is watching over her.
After several years of sitting abandoned at the farm, we wondered what we would do with the old travel trailer. Kaitlin, our oldest daughter, had thought about using it as a teenage hang out, but after too many years of neglect dirt and grime, she quickly lost interest. So the weeds grew up around it, the windows were smashed and the Texas storms slowly took bits and pieces of it away. It seemed as if the trailer had become rooted in the ground and that is where it would stay.
One day while out on the tractor, I spotted the old trailer sitting in the woods, and had a vision. I saw the old hunk of metal transformed into an amazing super posh get-away for women to enjoy and create long lasting and amazing memories.
And the demolition begins... Sinks flying, walls being ripped out, tub, and floors, until all you see is the skeletal bare bones. One day, after hours of ripping, tossing and daydreaming, my husband Mike, comes home after his own long day of work, and I start sharing my ideas.... "We can put this here, and that there, that can be a bed, we can rent it out as a B&B......" All the while this is being translated as "Blah blah blah build this...." As I wait for my sweet sensitive and thoughtful man to emerge, he of course is gearing up to "fix" whatever it is that I’m needing fixing.
We Rebuild....the walls start going up and it is getting exciting. (I do not build. I stand there and hand things to my husband). But once the paint and glitter comes out, he will be miles away. We have an unspoken dance that is graceful and entertaining at the same time. He builds and I make it look GOOOOD!
Spray me away! One day while I was out on one of my scavenger hunts, I met two very extraordinary ladies that made me realize that the stars have once again been aligned and the sun was shinning upon us. What do these ladies do? Exactly what I was planning to do for my B&B trailer. I knew I was in Heaven by just talking to them. I was ready for my shabby chic trailer to be painted! So with all the nervousness of a man proposing to his lady, I contacted Zina about her and Jill doing their magic with my shabby chic trailer, and ...She said YES!!! Only one before these ladies, Amanda, our PR lady, has ever crawled right into my head to extract my thoughts and visions and make it come to life!
Finishing touch....oh yea baby it is almost done. I have oozed my creative juices all over this project. I have dug deep and given it my all. A little pink here some blue over there. It is an amazing show of talent and workmanship. The anticipation of showing our daughter Kaitlin this former stinky dirty seemingly beyond repair of a mess trailer, has kept the creative juices continuously flowing.
It is almost complete, and I am giddy with excitement and can't wait to stay the night in our amazing new creation. Every inch has been used to create a unique experience, with the bathrooms a short stroll away, and a six person hot tub has been set up under the fabulous, amazing stars in the open country sky.
